Amazon is restructuring the chain of command for its Prime team to focus more on international markets, Insider has learned.
Russell Grandineti, vice president of Amazon's international consumer division, said in an internal email at the end of October that Neil Lindsey, senior vice president of Worldwide Prime and Marketing, said to the team: announced that it would take over the Lindsay will take on a new role within Amazon's consumer business in 2021, according to a copy of the email seen by Insider.
With the reorganization, Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon's Prime Memberships program, and his team will report directly to Grandineti. In addition, Lisa Leon, who is leading the Prime business in the UK and European markets, will broaden her responsibilities to increase membership. Meanwhile, another executive will be appointed to oversee the Prime membership program later this year.
"The Prime program continues to be our primary vehicle for expanding growth internationally," Grandinetti wrote in an email. An Amazon spokeswoman confirmed the organizational change but declined to comment on details.
This move comes at a time when Amazon's prime membership program is saturated in the US market.
