To prevent baggage damage and supply chain disruption
Sompo Japan Co., Ltd. announced on October 5 that it will sell a "freight evacuation cost special contract" that compensates for the cost of pre-evacuating cargo to logistics companies. In recent years, natural disasters have become more frequent and intensified, and the issue for the logistics industry is how to prevent damage to luggage and division of the supply chain in the event of a disaster. Transportation costs to avoid cargo damage and storage costs in the warehouse at the evacuation site cannot be budgeted, and it is difficult to secure additional costs. Therefore, the company decided to sell a "freight evacuation cost special contract" to compensate for the cost that the logistics company bears for the advance evacuation of cargo due to the approaching typhoon.
Outline of "Cargo Evacuation Cost Special Contract"
Under this special contract, if a typhoon approaching a certain scale or larger can be objectively grasped, the transportation cost for avoiding damage and the warehouse storage cost at the evacuation site will be compensated by the logistics company. Insurance money will be paid up to 3 million yen for transportation costs, storage costs at evacuation destinations, container movement costs and bonded costs. In addition, in order to maintain the supply chain, the company will provide appropriate advice and BCP proposals based on the accident prevention know-how based on the data that the company has accumulated so far.
