-Is there any difference between technology and public relations?
Ando: These two have different purposes.
The main purpose of recruitment public relations is to promote applications from candidates.On the other hand, the main purpose of technical public relations is to promote the development of its own engineer organizations and the industry.
By the way, Melpei's "Technical Public Relations" may be responsible for recruitment public relations while mainly technical public relations.
-What kind of activities do technical public relations do specifically?
Ando: Melpei has an "ad bokate" that is the caller, and a "technical public relations officer" that promotes the transmission of others.
Ando: Adobokate is a person who promotes technology spread inside and outside the company.
OSS activities ( *) and the operation and focus of the technical community, and the spread of technologies related to the company will be promoted.

-Why did Merpei start working on technical public relations in the first place?
Ando: The trigger was around 2015.
At that time, Mercari's CTO, Kararizawa, said, "Mercari has a lot of great engineers, a lot of great skills. I want more people to know this!"
That feeling has been taken over by the subsidiary Merpei.
Ando: There are three things that Mercari Merpei values when sending information.
Ando: Mercari is a world where you can easily buy and sell things by connecting individuals around the world with the power of technology.
Melpei aims to realize a world that "change the way of money, such as payment, finance, and share, creates credit and create a smooth society."
Engineer organizations also value the direction of customer issues in technology, along with that direction.
In addition, we are an organization that uses technology to solve various problems in the world and various problems in the world, not limited to customers who currently use Mercari and Melpay.
Through that challenge, we believe that providing new value to the world is also our role.
We will share the ideas and the premise we value, and convey our missions through technology dissemination.
Ando: Engineering is an early change industry that requires updates to technology every day, but the output we create newly created is made up of past engineers and knowledge.
Similarly, we will contribute to the development of the industry as a whole by sharing and handing out to the next technician through the transmission.

Ando: Melpei's engineering organization is challenging a new engineer organization as an organization, facing various business phases and organizational changes.
As we constantly update, such as personnel system, benefits, development systems, and recruitment standards, we will verify the "engineer image we should have" and disseminate what we should aim for as an engineer organization.
-Why did you formulate such a transmission policy?
Ando: To share long -term directions and visions with all engineers.
Mercari Merpei's engineer organization is growing year by year, and there are multiple transmission media, so I felt it was necessary to determine the overall direction of the transmission.
The content of this policy was solidified as Mercari Melpei's CTO / VPOE (as of 2019), referring to the contents of the Wiki, which was published by Kaigamizawa in the past.
Ando: Just formulating and sharing the direction does not always continue to transmit technology.In Mel Pay, Engineering Engagement Team is working to ensure the amount and quality of the transmission.

Technical Public Relations, as well as regular voices, will create opportunities for employees to write a blog by forming a special feature such as "Advent Calendar" and "Merpay Technness Month".
Ando: We will publish event reports and interviews with management in external media.

Technical Public Relations is planning an event theme while talking with engineers, engineering managers, and recruitment in each technical area, and operating on the day.

Ando: Mercari Merpei sponsors events hosted by other companies and external technical communities and producing speakers.
The Technical Public Relations Officer will respond when requesting a performance, checking the plan for sponsors, and preparing for preparation.
-Why is external events sponsored?
Ando: For Mercari Group's branding and internal engineers networking, motivation, and improvements.
Basically, we give priority to events that match one of the following three purposes, and other things are handled on case -by -case basis.

Mr. Ando: This time, we talked about the technical public relations, but the Engineering Engagement Team to which the technical public relations staff belongs is also a cover range for improving employee experiences (onboard, training, evaluation, etc.).
