The 86th Board of Education target seminar "GIGA School Concept Maintenance and Utilization of ICT Equipment" was held on February 15th at the Nagoya venue and online hybrid.
Mr. Yuji Kawamoto, Chief of GIGA School Strategy, Education Policy Division, Okazaki City Board of Education
In Okazaki City, which had been making full use of iPad before the GIGA school, a "one-person-one-unit environment" will be deployed by the end of 2020 based on the GIGA school concept. In addition to the school affairs PC (Windows), the school affairs PC (Windows) is also equipped with an iPad, and it is an environment where school affairs can be done remotely. After another year, he reported on the current utilization and ingenuity. … ・… ・…
Last year, he reported that he wouldn't use it without operation, but after a year, that idea has become even stronger. The basic operation is the most important for utilizing terminals.
This year, the organization will be reorganized to become the "GIGA School Strategy Section", and through the GIGA environment, learning style reforms and work style reforms for faculty and staff will be realized.
The "GIGA School Strategy Section" is under the supervision of a teacher's register, with one supervisor providing practical guidance, two administrative staff from the Information Policy Division managing and operating, and a GIGA advisor who is the principal's OB for training and management. Is giving advice to. Advice to managers is important for the school to accept the purpose of the GIGA school and put it into practice independently.
Cooperation with vendors and maintenance companies is the key to sustainable operation. Therefore, we have set up a help desk for the GIGA environment to centrally manage it. We try not to use the telephone as much as possible, and we are trying to improve efficiency based on character-based communication. Consultations and requests from the school reach the school board on Teams and are automatically shared with the help desk. Depending on the content, we ask vendors, maintenance companies, and manufacturers to respond to school requests in real time. For example, when the school staff registers in the input form, the maintenance company will handle the deployment of information terminals and accounts to transferees from outside the city. It can be handled in 1 to 2 days.
With the development of GIGA, the amount of information has increased dramatically, so it has become important to share and convey information. First of all, the city board of education provides information to all faculty and staff in the daily "ICT Kawaraban", and at the same time, one information chief at each school learns from Teams and groupware to improve ICT utilization. In addition, a manual that everyone can refer to is also posted on Teams. Various application forms are also available.
Smooth renewal of the year will lead to smooth utilization of the new year.
In the previous year's update, there was no room in the schedule, and the refreshing work of the graduates' terminals was halfway, and work occurred intermittently after the new year. Therefore, we positioned the activity entitled "Thank you My Tablet", prepared manuals and videos, and set a period for cleaning and initialization with gratitude so that we could do it by ourselves.

Okazaki City deploys one iPad for each person from the first grade of elementary school to the third grade of junior high school, but of these, the second grade and above of elementary school should be lent to individuals as "My tablet" and use the same terminal for 6 years. become. The first grade of elementary school will be maintained for each person, but it is an operation that any terminal can be used.
With the deployment of GIGA, ICT, which belonged to some enthusiastic faculty members, has become truly generalized.
Children and students keep their "My Tablet" at hand all day long, and the style of utilizing it for various activities has been established from an early stage.
At Kouzan Junior High School, a tablet drill is conducted on the terminal as a morning study. I use it for looking back during class and use various tools, and on the way back, I store it in the charging storage.
At Otogawa Elementary School, we were able to share ideas with groups, look back on videos, and learn at home through online distribution. At Minami Junior High School, he used the Vocaloid educational version to add melody to his haiku and composed with "GarageBand", showing his creativity. Also, when listening to music, they shared their impressions with each other and visualized frequently-used words to promote awareness and deepen their learning.
Repeating activities such as reading the impressions of friends and sending comments to each other fosters a group of learning. You can also use the collaborative learning support tool to find out who viewed who's comments and how many times. The number of comments viewed is also an indicator of the strength of learning.
Understanding and understanding of individuals and groups is important for better school management and class management.
In order to understand children and students based on evidence, we have introduced WEBQU and are discussing how to call out and provide individual support for building warm relationships.
Even in junior high school, which is a subject teacher system, it became easier to share information about individual students and reflect it in learning guidance.
Most schools are taking on the challenge of online lessons and hybrid lessons as a countermeasure against new coronavirus infections. The fact that many teachers gained experience in online lessons has become a great asset throughout the city. Various possibilities related to society have expanded, such as inter-school exchanges, overseas exchanges, online work experiences, online interviews with specialists, various online on-site lessons, and social tours.
One of them is the trial of an on-campus free school. We make it possible for children and students belonging to free schools to participate in classes in their classes online at any time. In an environment where homeroom teachers and support staff are also enrolled, they learn programming at their own pace, compose and edit videos, and learn at their own pace while interacting with fellow free school students. Each school is creatively devising a classroom environment where students can learn with peace of mind by installing sofas and tents, and plans to open them in all junior high schools in the future.
By strengthening the internet environment, we are increasing opportunities to connect with overseas and outside the school.
As part of the SINET utilization demonstration project, we held four interactive online science seminars for team learning from December to February. It connected each school with research institutes and researchers. We also gave an online lecture by Dr. Akira Yoshino, who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. In order to make it a participatory seminar, we made it possible to check the results of quizzes and votes in real time using Microsoft Teams for video viewing, Microsoft Forms for questions, and Mentimeter. A total of about 18,000 people participated, but I was able to write without problems and instantly grasp the consciousness of the child. It was a place to learn from each other throughout the city with experiences and feelings, such as not only listening to the story but also having children with questions speak on the main screen.
After the seminar, about 90% of the students answered, "I was able to learn online with real feelings." The number of students who were "interested in science" also increased from 56% in advance to 91% after the fact.
