"Xiaomi Pad 5" is a real hit for high-end Android tablets!

Written By notebooktabletphone

Xiaomi's "Xiaomi Pad 5" is an 11-inch Android tablet with performance similar to that of high-end smartphones. Although it is a high-end Android tablet that can be said to be an endangered species in Japan, it is finished in a very easy-to-use content with high cost performance like Xiaomi. I was able to borrow the actual machine, so I tried to verify its ability.

Large screen, narrow frame, luxurious design

First of all, regarding the appearance, the Xiaomi Pad 5 is equipped with an 11-inch display, the size is about 166.25 × 254.69 × 6.85 mm, and the weight is 511 g. Looking at the 4th generation "iPad Air" equipped with a 10.9-inch display near the size, the size is about 178.5 x 247.6 x 6.1 mm, the weight is 458 g for the Wi-Fi model, and the thickness and weight It can be seen that there is a slight size, but the size is close.

The front of "Xiaomi Pad 5". It's a little heavy because it weighs more than 500g, but I'm glad that it has a large 11-inch screen and a narrow frame for a tablet.

Since it weighs more than 500g, it feels a little heavy when you get used to a 10-inch class tablet, but the display size is large and the performance is high. Although the display material is liquid crystal, it has a narrow frame for a tablet, and it is a merit that you can enjoy the contents by making full use of the large screen.

The design is a square design close to the 4th generation iPad Air, and it seems to follow the recent smartphone design trends. The back is smooth and luxurious, and the feeling of ownership when you pick it up is not bad.

If you check the side, the volume key on the right side, the power key on the top, the USB Type-C terminal on the bottom, and the terminal for connecting the keyboard etc. on the left side are prepared in the vertical state. There is no fingerprint sensor, and biometric authentication is only simple face authentication using the front camera.

Performance that allows you to play AAA class games comfortably

One of the major features of the Xiaomi Pad 5 is that it has extremely high performance as an Android tablet. Many Android tablets are low-priced and their performance is reasonable, which is sufficient for watching videos such as YouTube, but many are not suitable for applications that require performance such as gaming.

However, the Xiaomi Pad 5 is equipped with a high-end "Snapdragon 860" in the SoC, and boasts quite high performance with 6GB of memory and 128GB or 256GB of storage (depending on the model). Recently released Android tablets of the same class with relatively high performance include Lenovo's "Lenovo Tab P11 Pro" and NEC's personal computer "LAVIE T11" (T1195 / BAS). The chipset I have is "Snapdragon 730G", which remains in the middle high class.

Of course, there is also Lenovo's "Lenovo Yoga Tab 13" equipped with "Snapdragon 870", but this one has a larger screen size of 13 inches and can be used as a mobile display with a stand, which is a slightly special standing position. It is in. That's why the Xiaomi Pad 5 is the only high-end model of the standard Android tablet at the moment.

So what is its performance? The Snapdragon 860 is said to have performance similar to the chipset "Snapdragon 855" for high-end models two years ago, but when I check it in the game, the graphic setting is "FHD" in the quality and the frame setting in "PUBG MOBILE". In "High" and "Genshin", the default graphic setting is "Medium", which is similar to that of recent high-end models.

The graphic settings of "PUBG MOBILE" can be raised to "FHD" for quality and "Ultra" for frame settings. It turns out that it has higher performance than Snapdragon 7xx series

The graphic setting of "Genshin" is also "Medium" by default, and you can see the performance suitable for high-end models.

Of course, it's certainly not as good as the latest smartphones with the Snapdragon 888, but unless you're always sticking to the highest quality, you'll be comfortable playing AAA-class games with this performance. In addition to that, the Xiaomi Pad 5 also supports a display refresh rate of 120Hz drive, so I am happy that the moving display is smooth.

However, when playing games on a tablet, it should be noted that the arrangement and operation feeling of fingers are different from those of smartphones because the screen is large. Many smartphone games do not support game controllers, so keep in mind that you need to get used to playing comfortably on a large screen.

Actually play "Genshin".The operation itself is smooth, but the size and spacing of the pads and buttons will change, so RPG etc. are still good, but I want to note that the operation feeling will change considerably for FPS etc.
